Criteria for Cooperation

  1. The Yad Vashem Project for Film Co-production (the Project) will participate in the production of films that contribute toward Holocaust remembrance and the struggle against Holocaust denial and anti-Semitism, and are intended for screening by means of any existing or future media in Israel and the world.
  2. At present, the Project will only participate in the production of documentaries and docudramas.
  3. The Project will participate in the films during all stages of the production.
  4. The Project reserves the right to reject any film submitted. The choice of films will be at the sole discretion of the Project.
  5. The Project will participate in the production of films produced by a producer with proven experience.
  6. Participation provided by the Project for film production will not exceed 30% of the film’s actual production budget.

    The Project’s management may, at its sole discretion and in extraordinary cases, consider deviating from this rate.
  7. The Project’s investment in the film production shall occur upon the completion of each of the following stages, subject to the Project management’s approval of each such stage: screenplay approval, pre-production, filming, editing and submission of a final copy. At each stage, the Project director will authorize the continuation of production. In the event that corrections will be required, they will be made in consultation with and with the agreement of the director and producer.
  8. The Project will consult with professional peers and historical advisors on behalf of Yad Vashem.
  9. An agreement will be signed between the applicant, who has the rights to produce the film, and Yad Vashem.
  10. The Investment amount approved by the Project with respect to the film shall be a gross amount, and the producer shall bear any taxes and/or levies resulting from the production (including VAT and changes in the existing tax rate), insofar as they shall apply.
  11. Financial and legal matters (including securities, timetables, guarantees, payments, etc.) will be included in the contract signed by the Project and the filmmaker.
  12. The Project reserves the right, in exceptional cases and at its discretion, to partner in films even if they do not meet the criteria detailed in the guidelines and procedures. The Project's management is not obligated to explain its considerations regarding its decisions in this regard.
  13. The Project's management is at liberty to make decisions, periodically, regarding changes and/or updates to the guidelines and procedures for partnership in film productions.
