The Canadian
Society was host to a warm and energy-filled
gathering at their annual Gala Dinner, held
this year at the Royal York Hotel in
Toronto. Co-chaired by Hank Rosenbaum, Lou
Greenbaum, Harry Kichler, Barry Zagdanski,
Miguel Singer and Sheldon Libfeld, the
evening honored Tony and Elizabeth Comper
for their work in fighting anti-Semitism in
Canada. Winston S. Churchill gave the
keynote address. Also honored was Leslie and
Anna Dan for their continued support of Yad
Vashem and new Yad
Vashem Benefactor Joseph Gottdenker,
pictured to the right with Shaya Ben Yehuda,
Managing Director of International
Relations, Yad Vashem, Hank Rosenbaum,
Chairman of the Canadian Society for Yad
Vashem, and Solly Kaplinski, Director of the
English Desk, International Relations
Division, Yad Vashem. Ed and Fran Sonshine were also
acknowledged as new Yad Vashem Benefactors.
Funds raised at the Gala Dinner will go
towards the Holocaust Educational Legacy
Fund that will provide scholarships for
teachers to travel to Israel to study at the
International School for Holocaust Studies
at Yad Vashem |
