Congratulations to Jeffery Pinnick, Simon Reiss, and Ben Helfgott. Mr. Pinnick has graciously agreed to take on the role of Chairman of the Yad Vashem UK Foundation, while Mr. Reiss and Mr. Helfgott have been installed as honorary lifetime Presidents.

In June 2005, Michael and Jackie Gee, Allan and Diana Morgenthau, and Rosalyn Springer, members of the Sherman family, attended the dedication of “The Last Jews” – the gallery of the new museum endowed by the Archie Sherman Charitable Trust. Naftali Lavi, himself a survivor of Auschwitz gave the keynote address.

Ben Helfgott, former chairman of Yad Vashem UK Foundation and currently a lifetime President, came to Yad Vashem along with the members of the Forty Five Society to endow The Teachers’ Garden in honor of the educators who perished in the Holocaust and in memory of their family members and loved ones who died in the Shoah. After the ceremony the group went on a tour of the new museum and then attended the premiere of the movie “The Boys”  - a documentary on the experiences of the members of the Forty Five Society who as young boys were rescued from concentration camps at the end of the war and sent to live in England.

Arek Hirsch and his family came to Yad Vashem in November for the dedication of a classroom in the International School for Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem. The classroom was dedicated in honor of Mr. Hirsch – a survivor who donates countless hours of his time to educating and speaking about his experiences of the Holocaust to children and adults all over the world – by JNF UK and JNF Leeds, together with the Leeds Jewish community.
