In November 2002 the Venezuela Committee for Yad Vashem held an event in Caracas marking Kristallnacht . At the event, attended by over 400, Holocaust survivors Annie Reinfeld and Trudy Spira were honored and the first edition of the annual publication “Recuerda” (Remember) was released.

The Yad Vashem publication, The Auschwitz Album, was published through the generosity of Caracas residents: Thalma and Milton Gruszka, Raquel and Henrique Margolis, Lilian and Ernesto Spira, Lya and Zoltan Gaspar, Perla and Daniel Slimak, Dora and David Yisrael, Rosa and Moric Dum, Raquel and Jacobo Szkolnik, and dedicated to Auschwitz survivors, Reinfeld and Spira.

"Recuerda" is the first magazine issued by the Venezuelan Committee of Yad Vashem, and is a testament to the continuous efforts of the members of the Committee to preserve the memory of the Holocaust. This first issue contains articles by Holocaust by survivors who are members of the Jewish community of Venezuela as well messages from the Chairman of the Yad Vashem Directorate, Avner Shalev and Perla Hazan.

At the Kristallnacht commemoration, Klara Ostfeld presented her book "The Woman in the Mirror", a detailed autobiography of her years during the Holocaust. Klara and Hilo Osteld are Yad Vashem supporters.

Silvia Pressner, a Holocaust survivor, donated her book Ribera del rio Bug to Yad Vashem. Mrs Pressner is the mother of Freddy Pressner, former president of the Ashkenazi community of Venezuela and a Yad Vashem supporter.
