The International School for Holocaust Studies has launched its first
online course in English entitled: “At the Edge of the Abyss: The
Holocaust of European Jewry.” This new course enhances the global reach of
the School, providing an opportunity for educators, students and
professionals worldwide to engage in its educational resources and
communicate with each other, creating a rich academic discourse.
Formulated by experts from various fields at Yad Vashem, the course
explores the issues, dilemmas and history of the Holocaust, from a wide
range of perspectives. It is comprised of five sections: Jewish life
throughout Europe during the two hundred years prior to the war; Germany:
1918-1939; Jewish life in the ghettos; The Final Solution; and
Commemoration and remembrance. Each section comprises 10 fortnightly
lessons composed from educational materials, readings and assignments.
