The Fourth International
Educators’ Conference
Marking Yad Vashem’s 50th anniversary,
the International School for Holocaust Studies will hold its
Fourth International Educators’ Conference entitled: “Teaching the
Holocaust to Future Generations”, on August 8-11, in cooperation
with Oranim Educational Initiatives, Ltd and sponsored by the
Asper International Holocaust Studies Program. Among the topics to
be discussed are: the importance and challenges of teaching the
Holocaust in the 21st century; the place of the
Holocaust in shaping Jewish identity in Israel and in the
Diaspora; and the relevance of contemporary antisemitism in
Holocaust remembrance. Participants include Professors Yehuda
Bauer, Yitzhak Greenberg, John K. Roth and Robert S. Wistrich, as
well as some 450 renowned academics, researchers and educators
from over 20 countries.
In addition to the lectures, there
will be discussion groups and interdisciplinary workshops
combining topics from the fields of history, literature, art,
psychology and philosophy. Conference participants will also be
given an opportunity to visit the site of the new Holocaust
History Museum, due to open in March 2005. For further
