Women in Auschwitz
This ceremony explores the female experience at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Extermination Camp as expressed by women who were inmates there in 1944. While there are many commonalities in the male-female prisoner experience at Auschwitz- from selection through the forced labor, there are also many aspects of the experience that were unique to women. This ceremony presents a glimpse into the female experience at Auschwitz through the words and feelings of women who survived. This ceremony is designed for pupils in grades 9-12 (ages 15-18). Opening page 2. The Journey to Auschwitz and the Arrival at the Camp pages 3-4. Selection pages 5-6. The “Sauna” pages 7-8. Pregnancy and Childbirth in Auschwitz pages 9-10.
