Avner Shalev

Chairman of the Yad Vashem Directorate. born in Jerusalem. Served in the Israel Defense Forces, reaching the rank of Brigadier-General. After retiring from military service in 1980, appointed director of the Culture and Art Division of the Ministry of Education and Culture and later director-general of the Culture Authority and chairman of the National Culture and Art Committee.
