The Pedagogic & Research Center
The Pedagogic & Research Center specializes in collecting teaching resources, developing exclusive new resources, and in providing pedagogical guidance. The Center serves teachers, guides and students teaching or studying the Holocaust. The Center’s staff includes professional advisors and academics with experience in guiding and in Holocaust education, who are able to assist in finding subject-related educational resources.
Educational resources available at the Center:
Theme-based folders, which include: a pedagogical-content introduction, sample research questions, bibliography, main articles and newspaper clippings.
A folder of materials about the new Yad Vashem complex.
Lesson plans by the Israeli Ministry of Education and leading organizations in the world on Holocaust education.
Age-appropriate lesson plans.
Educational projects from leading Israeli schools.
Outstanding Holocaust related papers written by school and university students.
Files containing information about educational trips to Poland.
A collection of some 5,000 core books, updated research books, periodicals, memoirs and Holocaust-related literature.
Some 1,000 feature and documentary films on the Holocaust.
Services:
Pedagogical instruction for teachers, guides and educators:
- Advice for organizing ceremonies, learning centers and school exhibitions.
- Age-appropriate Holocaust education
- Referral to study units, lesson plans, films and resources on the Holocaust.
Film rental (necessitates a deposit)
Guidance on writing research papers on the Holocaust, for students.
Operating hours:
Sundays through Thursdays: 8:30-16:00
We recommend contacting the Center in advance of your visit, by phone or by email, in order to plan the visit and allow us to prepare relevant material.
Group sessions at the Center can be scheduled through the Study Seminars Department or the Teachers Training Department.
