Contemporary Lessons of the Holocaust: One Individual Can Make a Difference
This article presents the unifying theme behind this issue’s new lesson plans – “One Individual Can Make a Difference”.

  January 27

Educational Materials for International Holocaust Remembrance Day

January 27 has been designated by the United Nations as  International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this special site, we provide short video testimony from four israeli survivors, along with useful links to educational materials. Also included is a new ceremony in English, German and Italian, as well as guidelines for preparing ceremonies.

 Lesson Plan

Chiune (Sempo) Sugihara - Righteous Among the Nations
This lesson plan focuses on Righteous Among the Nations Chiune Sugihara.
Through his story, students are encouraged to discuss issues of personal responsibility, consci
ence and moral dilemmas. We also attempt to sensitize students to matters of emotional intelligence.

  Ceremony

Witnesses and Testimony
In the Holocaust’s aftermath, many survivors felt compelled to relate and give eyewitness accounts of those dark days, to pass on testament to future generations. In this ceremony we relate the experiences of two Holocaust survivors and their families - one from Germany and one from Italy -  as told in their own words.

New on the International School for Holocaust Studies Website

The International School recently launched the second section of the online course on the Holocaust: "At the Edge of the Abyss: The Final Solution".

Our website now features a new interactive map of the main Nazi camps and killing sites, including information on the sites, an overview article on the “Final Solution” and a collection of related items for further research.

Due to interest in the Holocaust’s aftermath and Zionism, the Internet Department has recently expanded the “Echoes and Reflections” website to cover this topic.

Pages of Testimony

The International School for Holocaust Studies has recently launched a new website of lesson plans involving Pages of Testimony. Here you will find activities for learning about Pages of Testimony and, for higher grades, actively collecting the names and stories from survivors.

What's New at the International School for Holocaust Studies?

Here you can find updates on activities at various departments in the International School, including the European Department, the Department for International Seminars in English and the Jewish world, and the International Projects Department.
In November, we conducted a videoconference with Kingsborough Community College in New York.

  New Yad Vashem Publications

This section features new books published by Yad Vashem.
In accordance with the theme for this year's January 27 ceremony - Witnesses and Testimony - we've focused primarily on survivor memoirs.
All books are available at our online store.
