The “SAUNA” - Disinfection

The testimony of Yaffa Munch, born in Hungary and deported to Auschwitz with her family in 1944, at the age of 14.

They took us and gathered us outside a large bath house. They told us to remove all our clothing and to pile them up neatly and fold them…. There was a whole lecture and we listened nicely and folded the clothing. And I had to take off my clothing there. Suddenly they took us and shaved off all of our hair. My sister is a beautiful girl, with long dark hair. And suddenly I begin to shout and call out her name: Esther, Esther – and she says “I'm standing beside you.” I didn't recognize her because they had shaved off all her hair.
