The trial of Adolf Eichmann, Nazi SS officer in charge of the Jewish Affairs Department in the Reich Security Main Office, was held in Jerusalem in 1961-62. The trial brought the issue of the Holocaust to the forefront and sparked much interest in Holocaust research in Israel and throughout the world.
In marking 40 years since the Eichmann trial, a conference was held by Yad Vashem’s International Institute for Holocaust Research in conjunction with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The conference, which took place on April 15-16, examined the trial’s impact on Israeli society, education, and Holocaust research during the last 40 years.
