Artifacts from Cyprus detainment camps

Inkstand
Cyprus, 1947

The inkstand  has two inkwells, one on either end, and a shallow depression in front for the pen.
The stand is carved in the shape of a bridge. The detainees pressured the British to build a bridge over the road which separated two of the camps  in order to facilitate movement between them.
The unknown artist who crafted this unique artifact carved three identical models which he presented to Yehoshua Leibner, Moishe Laub (the JDC director) and to Golda Meir, who visited the camps. As far as is known this is the only surviving model.
