Eleventh Hour Collection Project

The Eleventh Hour Collection Project is a last effort to preserve the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. It is a race against the clock to gather victims' names, record memories, and retrieve artifacts-diaries, letters, and art-from the survivors before it is too late.

We have lived through an era in which we could listen to survivors speak and bear witness to the atrocities they faced in Europe between 1939 and 1945. It has been an era in which witnesses could assist historians by attempting to fill some of the gaps in both the personal and general history of the period. As this era comes to an end, the Eleventh Hour Collection Project undertaken by Yad Vashem, endeavors to make one last attempt to gather all the information available. Along with the artifacts, which are the most tangible way of documenting the events of the Holocaust, compiling a comprehensive list of those who perished has been given a high priority. To return but one name is to save the memory of a whole life.
