Projects
Yad Vashem
is working with organizations worldwide to implement
community based 11th hour campaigns to gather and
commemorate names of Holocaust victims.
Here we
highlight our partnership with The Association of Jewish
Refugees.
The
Association of Jewish Refugees (AJR) has joined Yad Vashem’s
11th Hour Names Recovery Campaign by calling on its 3,500
members to submit names of Holocaust victims at this urgent
hour. The AJR, which provides social, welfare and financial
assistance to Holocaust survivors and refugees in Great
Britain, is raising awareness for the campaign in its
nationwide Regional Groups, its monthly Journal and its
website
www.ajr.org.uk. To date, 330 names have been submitted
as a result of the AJR effort.
The AJR
places great importance on providing its members with the
opportunity to commemorate their loved ones who have been
lost in the Holocaust and encourages them to do so during
member gatherings.
AJR members
have received Pages of Testimony and assistance is available
completing the forms is available through the AJR’s
dedicated social care department and the AJR’s volunteer
team.
Founded in
1941 by Jewish refugees from central Europe, the AJR has
accumulated more than 60 years’ experience attending to the
needs of Holocaust refugees and survivors who came to
Britain before, during and after the Second World War.
Today,
membership is extended to all Jewish victims of Nazi
persecution, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
