calling for unrestricted immigration to Eretz Israel – Leipheim,
Germany, Postwar
After the Holocaust, the British Mandate continued to deny the
She’erit Hapleita (lit.: the remnant that survived) access to Eretz
Israel. In light of the refugees’ ardent desire to immigrate,
volunteers from the Yishuv organized groups all over Europe, and
together with local youth movements, they arranged the illegal
immigration to Eretz Israel of approximately 60,000 people, who made
their way on board ships. |
