Yad Vashem Friends of Yad Vashem Worldwide

Australian Friends of Yad Vashem

The Australian Friends of Yad Vashem (AFYV) was established in March 2005 to coincide with the opening of the new Holocaust History Museum at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem.

Since then, thousands of Australians have visited the new museum, including several prominent families who have become major benefactors.

Well known communal figure Johnny Baker has assumed the role of inaugural Honorary President of AFYV. Baker has previously been President of the State Zionist Council of Victoria and of Mount Scopus Memorial College (1994-2004). AFYV has appointed Deon Kamien, a former Australasian Union of Jewish Students (AUJS) Victorian President as Executive Officer and is looking to set up chapters around Australia.

Members of the community are invited to contact AFYV regarding forthcoming visits, educational programs or the Central Database of Shoah Victims’ Names.
