The Institute holds one and two-day symposia throughout the year.  These symposia bring together established and new scholars from Israel and abroad. Some of the symposia conducted are in honor of books recently published by Yad Vashem.  Other symposia that take place in the Institute focus on specific topics related to the Shoah.

Recent symposia include:
  • Pope Pius XII and the Holocaust Current State of Research. This two day symposium took place on 8-9 March 2009 between researchers invited by Yad Vashem and researchers invited by the Vatican via the Studium Theologicum Salesianum Santi Pietro e Paolo.  An anthology of the lectures presented during this two-day symposium is forthcoming.
  • A day-symposium in honor of the Hebrew Publication of Dr. Ronald Zweig, The Gold Train. This symposium, which took place on 8 June 2009, was supported by the Fund for Research of the Holocaust in Hungary and Hungarian Jewish History in Honor of Dr. Ingrid D. Tauber.
  • The International Symposium Marking the 70th Anniversary of the Outbreak of World War II and Its Significance for the Fate of Jews. This symposium was held on 2 September 2009.
